MAUP's first ever concert! Yuri first visited The Fountains at RiverVue with her elementary school ESL class to sing carols during the holiday season of 2014. Two years later, she was assigned a project called Artist as Citizen at The Juilliard Music Advancement Program, which called for a performance in public to spread the importance of classical music. Recalling the smiles on the senior citizens' faces at the ESL class visit, she knew that this was the place to come back to, and organized her first concert in her life in the winter of 2016. Everything was new and foreign at first, but Yuri's old ESL teacher, Mrs. Mariella Ferguson, was able to guide her in the process of getting in touch with the director of the assisted living facility and setting up a date and time. Thank you to Mrs. Ferguson; Camille and William, two friends from Manhattan Chamber Music; Mr. Keith Burton and his beautiful accompaniment; and Ms. Lucie Gelinas, Yuri's violin teacher.

It was probably the best concert a twelve-year-old could manage to put together, but with only three pieces in the program and a nervous host of the concert, there was definitely room to grow. So, a special thanks to Mr. Arthur Howard—a kind senior citizen who encouraged Yuri to continue this project, this journey of sharing the joy of music to make people happy.
